Celebrating 90 Years Plus Other Fun

This year we spent Christmas break up in Wisconsin. I know I’ve said it before, but I absolutely love that Adrian gets a full two weeks break for Christmas. So much family time plus it means we get to maximize our time in Wisconsin. We had completely prepped Mackenzie. She was so excited to go to Wisconsin and see Grandma and Grandpa and play in the snow. Wait, you’re telling me that Wisconsin did NOT have a white Christmas??? Yep. I know. We had promised our daughter some wicked awesome snow play and, well, it didn’t happen. Oh well.

It did actually snow one night a few days before Christmas so we went out and played (ok I just took pictures) as much as we could before it melted. Which it did within about 2 days. It wasn’t deep enough to do much but Mackenzie did learn to make great snowballs and snow angels. Plus daddy taught her all about rolling down the hills in Amanda’s backyard.

She loved being able to wear her sparkly pink coat. I think she looks so adorable all bundled up!

One of the days leading up to Christmas Adrian’s oldest sister Eva took us out for a day of fun. We went out to lunch for some yummy brats (ok I actually had pizza, but that’s besides the point), then we headed over to one of the indoor amusement parks for some fun. We started out with bowling, which I have to say was pretty hilarious considering my huge belly and sense of balance. I’m not the world’s greatest bowler, but this was definitely my worst bowling score in a long long time. But I still had fun. Plus it was Mackenzie’s first time bowling. They had a ramp for her. She loved pushing the ball down it.

After that Adrian took Mackenzie on her first go kart ride. She loved it! In fact she loved it so much that they went twice!

Ready to go!

On December 23 we had a couple of awesome things happen. First we headed to the train station to pick up Uncle Shane! He’s stationed in Indiana for his deployment training and they got Christmas leave. So he took the train up to Wisconsin and spent the time with us. Mackenzie was so excited to have him there (though at one point Shane asked her who her favorite uncle was and she promptly replied, “uncle Matt”. Hilarious! Uncle Matt is pretty awesome though so I understand). From the train station we immediately headed straight over to Adams (the town Adrian grew up in) for a birthday celebration for his grandma. She turned 90 years old this year! She actually shares a birthday with yours truly so they decided to have the party a couple days early. There were tons of people I didn’t know but then lots of family I did!

Poor Shane was so tired…

For her birthday Adrian and I decided to make a family tree depicting all of her descendants. I absolutely love how it turned out, though I could be a little biased. Here’s the birthday girl with it:

The night consisted of dinner and of course lots of yummy treats. Grandma was also presented with a a book of letters that tons of family and friends had written for her.

We were so glad we were able to go up and celebrate with her. Adrian is very close to his grandparents (his grandpa passed away when he was a teenager). He spent tons of time with them when he was a kid. We’ve even decided to use his grandmother’s middle name, Josephine, as Adalynn’s middle name. We love you Grandma! Happy Birthday!
