Fire Fest 2011

A couple weekends ago the Cy-Fair Fire Department put on their annual Fire Fest. I wasn’t able to go to the daytime events that were open to the public because I was teaching at Super Saturday with our ward. But Adrian took Mackenzie with my family and they had a great time together.

That night they took all the fire trucks away and had a special event set up for the firefighters and their families. On our way over Mackenzie fell asleep so this is what she looked like the first part of the event:

There were so many fun things for kids to do though so we decided to wake her up so she could enjoy them. And I’m so glad we did! They had a bunch of different bounce houses that Mackenzie loved playing on. I think the best part, though, was this little airplane ride they had. The airplanes went up in the air and around in circles. I lost count of the number of times Mackenzie rode on it.

She just waved and waved the whole time she was going around. It was adorable. They also had a little mini merry-go-round that she loved. Once again she just waved and waved. So fun!

We had dinner that night (it actually was kind of disappointing and ended up making both Lauren and I very very sick). They had a raffle going on as well. Last year I won a gift card to a restaurant so I was really hoping for something this year. But this year they only gave out one ticket per family instead of individually. This meant that since we were considered part of my dad’s family we didn’t get one. Oh well. Kevin won a “bubba keg” which is just an oversized water jug and my parents won this cheesy homemade “crystal” spider. Also disappointing, but that’s ok! We had lots of fun with the other stuff so that’s what matters!
